Orchid World is located along Highway 3B in Barbados’s Saint George Parish, about a 30-minute drive from Bridgetown. Parking is available on site. Or take bus 6A, 8F, and 6C from the city’s Fairchild Street Terminal to the Groves stop. From there, walk a few minutes east and up to a path leading to the garden.
Orchid World is open daily year-round except on holidays. You can visit any time of the year, however, the best time to see most of the orchids in full bloom is from May to September. In the first months of the year, for example, only about half of the orchids have flowers.
Among the 20,000 varieties of orchids here, arguably the most stunning are the rainforest orchids, Vandas and Ascocendas. Hanging from trees with their curtain of roots and showy, bright-colored fragrant flowers, these orchids bloom throughout the year in tropical countries. Orchid World’s elevated location in Saint George provides the perfect natural environment for these exquisite beauties to thrive.
