Set within 2,000 acres (809 hectares) of a former sugar cane plantation in Carolina, Hacienda Campo Rico draws in adventurous travelers for ziplining, archery tag, horseback riding, and ATV tours. For a more chilled-out alternative, it’s possible to go on a sightseeing trolley tour or visit the on-site Mojito Bar.
Hacienda Campo Rico is most commonly visited on half-day tours that include packages of outdoor activities. ATV tours are a fun way to explore the mountains, mangrove forests, and coastal plains—with commentary about the Puerto Rican countryside and wildlife along the way. Horseback rides are also available with well-trained Paso Fino horses.
Other activities include archery tag (a mix of archery, dodgeball, and paintball), ziplining courses, and trolley tours with narration about native plants, local wildlife, and the history of the plantation and grounds. Some tours include the perk of a complimentary drink at the Mojito Bar.

Hacienda Campo Rico is around a 10-minute drive from Puerto Rico’s capital city of San Juan, and roughly 15 minutes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Parking is available, but for an easy and stress-free visit, opt for a package with hotel pickup and drop-off included.
The park is usually open year-round from early morning until late afternoon. The best time to visit San Juan is between April and June, with lovely spring weather and fewer crowds than the peak winter season. Visiting between April and June precedes the summer rainy season, which brings higher chances of hurricanes.
One of the most popular activities at Hacienda Campo Rico is an ATV tour. You can ride a solo ATV or book a double-seater—making it the perfect activity for couples or families with children. Wear clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty as the trail can be muddy. Also, bring mosquito repellant with you and wear the provided sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes from the dust.
