Titou Gorge is located on the weatern border of Dominica’s Morne Trois Pitons National Park, which is less than 7 miles (11 kilometers) from the island’s capital, Roseau. The drive takes about 25 minutes and follows a very scenic road. Buses leave from the city to the park regularly and take about 40 minutes. From the village of Laudat, walk to the park entrance for a couple of minutes, following the signs.
Morne Trois Pitons National Park is open daily year-round. To beat the crowds and have the most time to explore, start your visit early in the morning. The best season to visit is the dry season, from December to April when skies are sunny and the temperatures are comparatively low. Avoid visiting during the rainy season, which generally lasts from June to November, with a high probability of hurricanes in September and October.
Situated on a mountain-top at the end of a rugged trail in the national park, the Boiling Lake is an awesome contrast to the refreshing gorge. The second largest hot water lake in the world, this stunning cauldron of crystal blue water is typically measured at 200 °F (93 °C). Be warned: the trail is challenging and designed for the hardiest, most experienced hikers.
