Atop a hill on the island of Providenciales, the ruins of this once thriving cotton plantation offer visitors an essential perspective into the island’s history. Protected by the National Trust, the 18-century Cheshire Hall was named by Loyalist brothers Wade and Thomas Stubbs after their English home county of Cheshire.
Wander the grounds via stone-lined trails leading to the historic Great House and the industrial machines of the cotton age scattered about. Enjoy the views of the coast and keep your eyes out for local flora such as guinea grass, cow bush, and torchwood trees inhabited by butterflies, birds, and lizards. Explore the plantation as part of an all-island tour that combines visits to a massive, natural limestone swimming hole and the sugar white sands of Taylor Bay Beach.

Cheshire Hall is located atop a hill overlooking the east coast of Providenciales, less than 2 miles (3.5 kilometers) from the airport and about 8 miles (13 kilometers) from the city’s port. Drive or take a taxi to the plantation. Parking is available on site.
Visit the plantation early in the morning as wildlife is more active and the temperatures are cooler. Site tours generally run twice a day, in the morning and again after lunchtime. The boutique selling handcrafted items is open only on weekdays.
From Cheshire Hall turn towards the southwest coast and visit Taylor Bay Beach, one of the island’s most beautiful and remote beaches. A small crescent of soft white sand, Taylor Bay Beach is perfect for couples and families with small children, as it’s not typically crowded and the waters are quite shallow. Kiosks along the beach rent out equipment for sea kayaking and snorkeling.
